The Pixies Will Perform at T.T. the Bear’s Place Tonight

Just a few weeks ago, the Pixies performed to a hometown crowd of thousands, closing out the fifth edition of Boston Calling, a festival that’s become a staple of the local music scene over the past two years, decades after the band first got started here in the late ’80s.

But tonight, the Pixies will play in a much more familiar setting. Vanyaland reports that the band will perform at T.T. the Bear’s Place in Cambridge, a celebrated rock venue set to close July 25 after more than 40 years of hosting Boston’s up-and-coming performers.

It’s sure to be a memorable show, and admission is exclusive—the only way to snag a ticket is to show up at the Orpheum Theatre at 2 p.m. today, when they’ll go on sale for $55 a pop. There’s a two-ticket limit per purchase, and here’s the catch: both people need to show up at the Orpheum, where you’ll receive a wristband along with your ticket. Only people with both a wristband and a ticket will be allowed into T.T.’s tonight.

The Pixies posted an announcement on their website earlier today, calling T.T.’s “one of the most iconic nightclubs in the country.” In April, when previewing their Boston Calling set for our research editor Matt Baker, drummer David Lovering said they would “try and iron out new material by playing it live just like we did at Green Street Station, T.T.’s, and the Rat all those years ago.”

In addition to hosting the Pixies tonight, the rock club will also hold a “T.T.’s Farewell Blowout” from July 17 to 25—the lineup is yet to come—as well as a yard sale this Saturday with various mementos found throughout the club and its attic.
