Still puzzling over what to get Dad for Father’s Day? Don’t resort to the usual socks and tie routine—take him out for a great meal instead. Here are eight places you and your pops should patronize this weekend.

Ribs and Brews at Bambara
Get your dad what he really wants: beer and a big slab of ribs. Right on the heels of Bambara’s Bacon and Beer Festival appearance at Fenway Park, chef Jay Silva is whipping up half-racks ($12) and full racks ($18) of his signature ribs, served with coleslaw, house-made cornbread, along with two Mayflower beers—Summer Rye and Porter—on tap.

June 21, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5:30-10 p.m., Bambara Kitchen & Bar, 25 Edwin H. Land Blvd, Cambridge, 617-868-4444, bambara-cambridge.com.

Blues at The Beehive
If Dad’s a live music fan, swing by the Beehive for an evening of blues. Tuck into hearty prix fixe dishes like Szechuan-style beef brisket, swordfish puttanesca, and duck au poivre while listening to Beehive’s house band led by Bruce Bears.

June 21, 5:30 p.m.-1 a.m., The Beehive, 541 Tremont St., Boston, 617.423.0069, beehiveboston.com.

Summer Seafood at Bob’s Clam Hut
Time for a road trip? Head to Kittery for some iconic fried clams at this Maine staple. Open since 1956, Bob’s has been serving up chowder and deep-fried seafood to its legions of fans for almost 60 years now. But this summer, it’s not just the seafood that’s legendary. Bob’s Clam Hut and Robert’s Maine Grill are ushering in the warmer weather with new barbecue dinner items like hickory smoked brisket and St. Louis-style ribs.

Bob’s Clam Hut, 315 US Route 1, Kittery, Maine, 207-439-4233, bobsclamhut.com.

Avventarse Dinner at Bondir Cambridge
Tonight, Bondir hops over the Alps from France to Italy for their Avventarse Dinner—bondir and avventarse mean “to jump” in French and Italian, respectively. For this four-course menu, they’re serving asparagus caramelle, ravioli doppio with porcini confit and truffles, lamb lasagna, and ricotta tart with Sicilian pistachio, wild fennel strawberry sorbetto, and aged balsamico.

Four-course menu $55 per person ($90 with Italian wine pairings), June 21, 5-10 p.m., Bondir Cambridge, 279A Broadway, Cambridge, 617-661-0009, bondircambridge.com.

“Beefed Up” Father’s Day Brunch at Foundry on Elm
Even if your dad is the Paul Bunyan-type, there’s no way he’s leaving Foundry on Elm hungry. For their meat-tastic Father’s Day brunch, Foundry’s executive chef Shayne Nunes is busting out “dueling carving stations” (exciting!) featuring slow-roasted prime rib and mustard-roasted ham. There’s also an omelet station. And on top of that, you can heap your plates high with baked French toast, crepes, bacon and sausage, home fries, and more.

Brunch $25 per person, June 21, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Foundry on Elm, 255 Elm St., Somerville, 617-628-9999, foundryonelm.com.

Surf & Turf Dinner at Met Back Bay
Give Dad a break from the grill this year and head to Met in the Back Bay, which is turning its outdoor dining space into a elaborate barbecue. There, you and your patio daddy-o can feast on surf and turf—grilled ribeye and Scituate lobster, paired with grilled street corn and campfire potatoes—cooked to order, right in front of the table.

$49 per person, June 21, 5-9 p.m., Met Back Bay, 279 Dartmouth Street, Boston, MA 02116, 617.267.0451, metbackbay.com.

Father’s Day Bundle at Moody’s
But if you’ve gotta pry the grill spatula out of your dad’s cold, dead hands, then give your favorite grill master the gift of meat, glorious meat from Moody’s. Their special $50 Father’s Day bundle—available through June 20—gets you a copy of new cookbook American Burger Revival, a $15 Moody’s gift card, and your choice of any one package of Moody’s house-made sausage.

Moody’s Delicatessen & Provisions, 468 Moody St., Waltham, 781-216-8732, moodyswaltham.com.

Father’s Day Steak Special at Pantry
If your father was fond of reminding you “There’s no such thing as a free lunch,” here’s a way to tell him “In your face, Dad!” Because this is totally a free lunch—but just for dads. This Sunday, families attending Natick’s Pantry can get their patriarch a complimentary 10-ounce strip sirloin steak, served with a choice of two sides, including mashed potatoes, fries, sautéed broccolini, or a salad.

June 21, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Pantry Restaurant at The Verve, Crowne Plaza Hotel, 1360 Worcester St., Natick, 508.416.1352, thepantrynatick.com.
