Dream Wedding Venue: Black Point Inn
Imagine exchanging vows on a lusciously green expanse with long sandy beaches and the Atlantic Ocean in the background. You may now exhale your sigh. Welcome to Black Point Inn, a Maine classic situated on two acres, with breathtaking coastal views in all directions.
Whether you opt to have your wedding in one of their rooms and the lawn, or you book the entire inn for the weekend, this gorgeous getaway offers customized celebrations for groups from 30 to 150. You can have an outdoor ceremony, a cocktail hour on the deck overlooking the bay, and dinner and dancing in the Point restaurant. Your out-of-town guests will love the fact that there are only 25 rooms in the entire inn. No more wandering halls full of unfamiliar faces.
Built as a summer resort in 1878 and just 15 minutes from downtown Portland in Prouts Neck, the inn was voted Best Seaside Resort by New England Travel Guide, and has the Best Ocean Views in Maine according to Yankee Magazine. Its colorful history includes rail barons, political leaders, and one of Maine’s most famous native sons, world-renowned artist Winslow Homer.
All that history aside, it’s what you experience in the here-and-now that counts. Quiet moments sitting in the adirondack chairs, watching the tide come in. A stroll along the rocky “Prouts Neck Cliff Walk” just steps away from the inn. A lounge by the fire, sipping seasonal wines and sharing a laugh with good friends. A Point wedding includes two stationary (we spied an oyster raw bar and poached shrimp cocktail) and four passed hors d’oeuvres (lasagna cupcakes, anyone?), a plated or buffet dinner, a sparkling wine toast, and a custom wedding cake.
Yes, we’re pretty sure the sea is calling you. You should make a point of answering.
