Best of the Day: Adult Night at Legoland – August 19, 2015

Assembly Row’s Lego haven hosts a ‘Game Show’-themed grownups-only block party.

Welcome to Best of the Day, our daily recommendation for what to check out around town. If you do one thing in Boston today, consider this.

Adulthood doesn’t have to be all responsibilities and “accidentally” falling asleep in front of the TV before 9 p.m. And if we learned anything from last year’s The Lego Movie, it’s that legos aren’t just for kids. So tonight, let your inner child run free at Legoland’s monthly just-for-grownups event.

This month’s Adult Night boasts a Game Show theme, and they’ll be featuring popular games like Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy, each with their own fun Lego twist. There will also be Lego-building challenges, prizes, raffles, and a chance to donate to Merlin’s Magic Wand, a charity that benefits kids in need.

Oh, and there’s obviously a cash bar, so you can enjoy one of the few perks of adulthood while going ham with those plastic bricks. Everything is awesome. (Except when you accidentally step on a Lego piece. There is no worse pain in the world.)

And who knows: If you happen to unearth a secret hidden talent for Lego-building while you’re there, the Legoland folks are in the market for a new Master Model Builder.

August 19, 7-9 p.m., $22.95 per ticket, 18+, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston, 598 Assembly Row, Somerville, 866-228-6439, legolanddiscoverycenter.com.
