Jason Segel Is Coming to Boston
In The End of the Tour, which has been garnering early Oscar buzz since its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, actor Jason Segel portrays Infinite Jest author David Foster Wallace. The film follows Wallace and Rolling Stone writer David Lipsky on a press tour for the novel, in which the dystopian setting is a loose interpretation of Boston.
Now, Segel is in the midst of promoting his own novel, Nightmares! The Sleepwalker Tonic, the second in a trilogy of children’s books co-written by the actor with writer Kirsten Miller.
Last year, Segel was in town to promote the first Nightmares! book at the Harvard Book Store. In October, the Cambridge shop will welcome him back to discuss and sign copies of the sequel. Karen Sama, program coordinator at 826 Boston, a Roxbury writing center aimed at young students, will join Segel during the October 7 appearance at the Old South Church in Boston.
Tickets for the event will go on sale at 9 a.m. on September 10. General admission will cost $20 and include a copy of the new Nightmares! book. Tickets for kids under 12 will also be available for $5, but won’t include the novel.
Nightmares! The Sleepwalker Tonic will be released on September 8.
