William Wegman’s Weimaraners Return to Max Mara
Max Mara knows what we’re all thinking: autumn means jacket weather. And what better way to celebrate cooler Boston than to herald the return of Max Mara’s 2001 collaboration with William Wegman?
For the brand’s 50th anniversary, Max Mara commissioned renowned photographer and Massachusetts native William Wegman to create eight images featuring their iconic 101801 wool-and-cashmere coat draped adorably over his two Weimaraners. Dead-pan as always, the sleek pups looked fabulous in every shot of the series, appropriately titled Dogs in Coats.
The traveling exhibition debuted last night in Boston, which was a fitting, as Wegman grew up in Holyoke and received his BFA from MassArt. VIP customers were invited to see the photos in person, which were hung prominently along their staircase, and shop the store at 20% off with, the added bonus of receiving Dogs in Coats note cards as a special gift.
Of course, the double-breasted coat featured in the photos was the star of the show. In honor of the renewal of the Dogs in Coats series, Max Mara reproduced a very limited edition of 30 “101801” coats in the original style and chic camel color.
The puppy prints will travel to Manhasset, Troy, Chicago, New York, Toronto, and San Francisco between now and November 2015.
