South End Fitness Center Is Holding a Week-Long Open House

The facility is offering free group fitness classes, day passes, and body composition analyses all week long.

Free fitness season in Boston isn’t over yet. The newly reopened South End Fitness Center (SEFC), run by the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC), is holding a free open house all week long.

The SEFC houses group fitness classes, cardio and weight machines, a basketball court, and a pool as part of the BPHC’s mission to improve preventive health efforts around the city, encouraging residents to ward off potential health conditions through exercise and healthy eating. During its open house week, the facility will be open to the public and will offer a full schedule of free group fitness classes such as yoga, kettlebell, Zumba, and cardio sculpt. The lineup also includes body composition assessments, swim lessons, pickup basketball, and free day passes.

After open house week, use of the SEFC will be available through memberships or drop-in passes. A one-day pass will cost $15, a six-month membership will be $210, and a year-long membership will be $360, with group fitness classes costing a slight additional fee. Discounted memberships are also available to senior citizens, students, and community organizations.

Open house week runs Sept. 28 through Oct. 3. South End Fitness Center, 785 Albany St., 4th floor, bphc.org.
