Get a load of Rap Game Ben Carson.

The controversial presidential hopeful not named Donald Trump made an appeal to urban voters today by dropping a rap-minded campaign ad. Unfortunately, Carson doesn’t spit any hot fire on the track, but the stage is set for him to come correct in the follow-up.

Instead, a rapper named Aspiring Mogul sets the tone with lyrics like “Vote and support Ben Carson/For our next president/It’d be awesome.” Carson then speaks about the value of freedom over an old school hip-hop beat.

The ad is called “Freedom,” and New York magazine writes it will run over a fortnight starting Friday in Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, Birmingham, Jackson, Memphis, Tennessee, and Little Rock. Boston gets no love.

“America became a great nation early on not because it was flooded with politicians but because it was flooded with people who understood the value of personal responsibility, hard work, creativity, innovation and that’s what will get us on the right track now,” Carson says in the clip’s voice over. “I’m very hopeful that I’m not the only one that’s willing to pick up the baton to freedom. Because freedom is not free and we must fight for it every day. Every one of us must fight for it, because we are fighting for our children and the next generation.”

Aspiring Mogul then hammers it home: “If we’re going to get America back on track, we gotta vote Ben Carson, a matter of fact. Go out and vote.”
