Meghan Trainor Wins Favorite Album at the People’s Choice Awards

Meghan Trainor came up big at Wednesday night’s People’s Choice Awards as the Nantucket native was honored in the the favorite album category for her latest, Title.
The album, which recently sold one million copies, edged out recent chart-topping efforts by Drake and The Weeknd. Trainor admitted during her acceptance speech that she was a bit surprised by the nomination, let alone the win.
“I just want to say I’m the biggest fan of everyone in this category,” Trainor said. “I can’t believe I was even nominated, that’s wild and insane.”
On the film side, Matt Damon’s The Martian won in the favorite dramatic movie category while Black Mass stars Johnny Depp and Dakota Johnson were named favorite dramatic movie actor and favorite dramatic movie actress.
Everett native Ellen Pompeo also took home an award for favorite dramatic TV actress and former Newton resident Priyanka Chopra won favorite actress in a new TV series for her role on Quantico.
