Matt Damon Explains Why He’s a Fan of Millennials

Matt Damon may be an awkward dad now, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming a fan of the younger generation.
During a chat with GQ at the Sundance Film Festival this week, the Manchester by the Sea producer explained why he likes millennial more than people from Generation X.
The Boston-bred star revealed that he thinks today’s youth have a better perspective on things than folks who grew up during his era.
“This generation seems so much more dialed-in than mine,” Damon said. “The rap on Generation X was that we were disaffected and thought the world owed us something. That’s very different than what you get today, which is people feel connected to things that are going on on the other side.”
The actor added that he believes the problems facing society today, from global warming to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, feel much more dire than the challenges past generations were forced to face.
“You hear these end-of-world scenarios that I don’t think our parents heard,” Damon explained. “You wonder, is there going to be a world? If so, what kind of world is it going to be that my generation is leaving behind to the next generation?”
