Plant Nite Valentine’s Day Special at Naco Taco

The Naked at the Art Museum Scavenger Hunt

Naked in the art museum? Well, sort of. It’s a classic date at the museum with a twist—a scavenger hunt through nude and suggestive art. This Watson Adventures event is sure to be a memorable way to spend time with a significant other or friend while getting a blushing tour of the museum.

La Zombiata Opera

What happens when two zombies fall in love, an act that rebels against their undead culture? Now, you can find out. La Zombiata is a comedic opera performed by WholeTone opera, a group focused on woman-composed shows. Nora Maynard, who is both featured in the show and the artistic director, says, “It’s both a celebration of love, but it’s also full of humor. It’s perfect for people who want something interesting and alternative to do. This show would be good to bring a date to, but would also be great to go as a single and bring a group of friends and not feel that traditional love was being forced down your throat.”

Unconditional Love: The Letters of John & Abigail Adams

Whisk yourself back in time and experience the 54-year love story of John and Abigail Adams. Actors from the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum will read part of their letter collection and animate a love that endured through historical revolutions and prolonged separation. Silent Film It with Live Music by Jeff Rapsis

Does love have you for a loss of words? You’re not alone. Aeronaut Brewery Company will show the 1927 silent film It, a romantic comedy about a shop girl pursuing a wealthy department store owner who also happens to be her boss. To complement the movie, composer, and performer Jeff Rapsis will use a digital synthesizer to create orchestra music to accompany the film.

Find your valentine a unique gift from this vintage pop-up market at Eridanos Tattoo and Art Gallery. Our Lady of Reclamation and Bad Moon Consignment will sell strange crafts and trinkets—everything from hearts and skulls from animals to taxidermy and religious relics. Crumley says it’s a way to do something different, “I think there are a variety of ways to celebrate your appreciation of one another, and going in and checking out some interesting things specifically in a community-based event is an interesting way of shaking things up.” Their wildly successful holiday market last year sold out in about an hour, so don’t be late.

ImprovBoston’s “Thorns”

In this annual comedy show, artists use a variety of mediums—improvisation, sketch comedy, storytelling, music, and short films—to express the hilarity in love and heartbreak. Deana Criess, Director of ImprovBoston National Touring Company, says that the beauty of this Valentine’s Day comedy show is in its lack of pressure, “You just get to have a good time… Sit next to someone you love or like and laugh for an hour and a half.” In memory of the show’s co-creator, the proceeds go to TC Cheever Family Trust and The Tucker Gosnell Center for Gastrointestinal Cancers at Massachusetts General Hospital.
