There’s a Tiny House Party This Weekend

If you’ve always admired the tiny house movement from afar, your chance to get up close and personal with it starts this weekend.

Architect, microbuilder, and New Englander Derek “Deek” Diedricksen is coming to the Fuller Craft Museum for what’s been dubbed “Tiny Art Cabin Weekend.” Diedricksen, a Northeastern alum, has been crafting miniature abodes out of salvaged materials for years. He hosts the HGTV show Tiny House Builders and penned the book Microshelters, released in September 2015.

At the Tiny House Party, visitors can witness firsthand the planning and imagination that goes into constructing the small structures. They’ll be a meet and greet with tiny house builders like Vera Struck—who built her house at age 65—and the head of the Jamaica Cottage Shop in Vermont, Domenic Mangano. Then, visitors can tour a true tiny house at the museum, stick around for a screening of Tiny: A Story About Living Small, and have their copy of Mircoshelters signed by Diedricksen.
