When local startup M.Gemi launched last year, young Carrie Bradshaws everywhere rushed to fill their closets with the brand’s handmade Italian leather shoes. Starting on March 28, men will be able to get in on the action, too.

After a successful year of selling direct-to-consumer luxury Italian leather shoes, CEO Ben Fischman—whose other projects have included smash retail hits like Lids and Rue La La—has expanded his business to include men’s shoes and belts in the same stylish but classic silhouettes that the women’s line has become known for. Think: loafers, oxfords, driving moccasins, and leather sneakers. The collection of leather belts will include wardrobe staples like calf and alligator leather in an assortment of colors.

The men’s shoes are made with the same attention to detail as the women’s line—family-owned factories and specialty artisans around Italy build M.Gemi’s shoes on proprietary forms, ensuring a consistent fit throughout every style, taking the risk out of online shopping. The shoes are then sold directly to the consumer starting at $198, cutting out steep price jacks found in department stores.

And customers have been responding well to Fishman’s specialty retail venture. According to a press release, the brand found that women were buying, on average, four pairs of M.Gemi shoes per year, slowly curating a closet of essentials. Along with the debut of their men’s collection, the e-boutique will offer a program called “Refresh,” allowing their customers to buy any three items for $100 off the full price and encouraging them to “condense their wardrobe into key essentials needed for work and leisure.”
