April Must-See: Rob Delaney in Catastrophe
Boston-bred comedian Rob Delaney moved his family to London to create, write, and play the lead in his own television comedy, Catastrophe. Already, the risk has brought ample rewards, including rave reviews and a Critics’ Choice Award nomination. The premiere season covered the prickly courtship between a Boston ad exec ( Delaney) and an Irish teacher (series cocreator and cowriter Sharon Horgan) as they navigate her unexpected pregnancy. Coming to Amazon Video this month, season two features the pair discovering how parenthood changes their relationship.
As a transplant, Delaney is quick to describe his hometown as “a good place to incubate comedians.” And his humor isn’t the only New England sensibility he’s brought with him across the pond. Asked if he’ll still indoctrinate his kids into Red Sox fandom while abroad, he answers, “Yeah, I mean, that just makes sense. I want them to be good people.”
Premieres April 8, Amazon Video, amazon.com/primevideo.
