Shawn Thornton Chirps Islanders Player: Who Are You?
With the Bruins watching from the sidelines this postseason, B’s fans will just have to take solace—or, in Tyler Seguin and the Dallas Stars’ case, masochistic pleasure—from watching dearly departed favorites pursue hockey’s greatest prize.
Look no further than former Boston enforcer Shawn Thornton, now with the Atlantic Division champion Florida Panthers. In Game 1 of their first-round matchup against the New York Islanders, Thornton reminded us that a perfectly crafted chirp is an art form.

In the middle of a post-whistle scrum, Thornton turns Islanders forward Ryan Strome around to check the name on the back of his jersey, before receiving a hearty shove from Strome.
Strome, 22, was picked fifth overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and is currently in his third season with the Isles.
