The creepy pages of a Régis Jauffret’s graphic novel, Historia, come alive in this Chilean play, Historia De Amor. The dark, twisted plot follows an English teacher’s obsession with a young woman he meets on the subway, and a relationship characterized by sexual domination and control ensues. The production style is artistic— combining 2D and 3D comic book-inspired animation with the characters onstage that give the scenes the impossible sensation of a moving comic strip.

Although Davidson is only 22 years old, he’s already gained every comic’s dream gig: a role on Saturday Night Live. As the youngest member of the current cast, Davidson has already started to make a name for himself—Variety dubbed him a top ten comic to watch in 2014. The Staten Island native has also made appearances on MTV’s Guy Code, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He describes his comedy to Variety as  “self-deprecation mixed with a lot of honesty.”

Harvard Square 9th Annual Bookish Ball and Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebration

Historians believe that the English playwright Shakespeare was born and died on April 23rd. To honor his 452nd birthday, Harvard Square is celebrating. In a “Sonnet Slam” 154 sonnets will be read in just five hours, accompanied by live flute music. Actors will be performing scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in front of various bookstores in the square. And, of course, there will be cake.

You’re the Expert Live

Ever wonder exactly what a researcher does all day? Three comedians attempt to find out in You’re the Expert, a WBUR show, podcast, and game show. As part of the Cambridge Science Festival, the panel will do a series of games, quizzes, and interviews to learn more about the work of MIT researcher Dr. Angela Belcher. The production aims to use comedy to shed a light on academic research. Chris Duffy, the show’s creator and host, says, “Definitely you’re going to learn and you’re going to laugh.”

Jazz Week Boston

In a 10-day-long festival, Boston is celebrating jazz music. Over 200 events, mainly concerts, will take place around the city. Ken Field, the Jazz Week committee co-chair, says many people are not aware that the Boston jazz scene is thriving: “Really, Boston has a hugely rich history of jazz and an ongoing commitment to jazz.” Jazz Week Boston aims to shed light on the diverse range of jazz in the Boston community.
