Watch Fan Video of Prince’s Final Performance of ‘Purple Rain’

A few hours before Prince was hospitalized last week, he performed live at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, the latest stop on his Piano & A Microphone tour. As with all Prince performances, video and camera phone use was prohibited, but as is often the case, some managed to sneak quick shots and clips of the performance.
One fan at the Fox managed to snag 26 seconds of “Purple Rain”, and today, it stands as a record of the legendary musician and pop icon’s final performance of his classic 1984 anthem.
“We weren’t supposed to use phones at Prince in ATL last week,” writes Jake Reuse on Twitter, “but I couldn’t resist. Last performance of ‘Purple Rain’.”
On Thursday, news broke that Prince has died at his Minnesota home at the age of 57. Details of the cause of his death are still unconfirmed. After the Atlanta show, he was hospitalized for a short time, which his reps said was a rest of flu-like symptoms.
Rest in peace, Prince.
