At your next cookout, forget about throwing the usual burgers and dogs on the grill. This tropical turkey burger recipe is about to become your summertime secret weapon.

This recipe incorporates flavorful green onions, a dash of spicy Sriracha, and sweet pineapple to make a flavorful, festive burger. The pineapple can be grilled for smoky flavor, or left raw. If grilling, just be sure to cut it into rings and coat it with coconut oil first.

If you want to go low-carb, you could ditch the buns and try a lettuce wrap instead.

Ingredients
Serves 4

1 pound lean ground turkey
1 bunch green onions
1 pineapple
1 Tbsp Sriracha sauce
2 cloves garlic
4 whole wheat buns or lettuce wraps
Toppings of choice

Directions

Mince the green onions until you have about 1/4 cup. Combine the green onions, ground turkey, and Sriracha in a large bowl. Using a garlic press, squeeze the two cloves of garlic into the mixture. Stir well.

Form the turkey mixture into four patties and place in the fridge.

Using a sharp knife, slice off the pineapple skin. If grilling, cut the pineapple into rounds. If using raw, cut it into either rings or chunks.

Bring the grill to medium heat. Spray with non-stick spray and, once hot, place the burgers on the grill. (If you opted to grill the pineapple, place that on the grill as well.) Cook the burgers for about 20 minutes, flipping once halfway through. If grilling the pineapple, it only needs about five minutes on each side. If using buns, feel free to toast them on the grill.

Once the burgers are done, place them on the buns or lettuce wraps. Top with the fresh or grilled pineapple, and any additional toppings of choice. Avocado, sprouts, and tomatoes are all good options. Serve hot and enjoy.
