Levend Bagelry to Open This Month in Boston Public Market
After spending the past year rolling out bagels at pop-ups around the Boston area, Levend Bagelry will make itself a permanent home in Boston Public Market later this month, Boston Restaurant Talk reported.
Bagel maker Alex Jong specializes in organic, New York-style bagels (salt, everything, herb, etc.), homemade cream cheeses in flavors like scallion and maple walnut, and bagel-based dishes, like pizza bagels and sandwiches. Levend Bagelry, which previously operated out of a commissary kitchen in Malden, has sold its bagels online and at spots around Cambridge and Concord since launching in August 2015.
“The Boston Public Market provides the perfect opportunity for us to remedy the dearth of great bagels in Boston while collaborating with other vendors who share our vision of local and organic sourcing,” Jong said in a press release. “We are wildly excited to join this unique community and begin serving up crackling bagels, sandwiches and pizza bagels straight from the oven.”
Jong recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to help cover the cost of buying equipment and appliances for his kiosk at the Boston Public Market, with backer rewards that include plenty of free bagels. The bagelry’s space in the market will be located next to Wolf Meadow Farm and Noodle Lab, complete with an open-air kitchen where visitors can watch bakers bring their doughy desires to life.
When it opens in early July, Levend Bagelry will be serving Wednesday through Sunday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Starting July 18, the bakery and the entire market will expand its schedule and be open all week long.
