Seattle, Not Boston, Ranked Best City for Fourth of July Celebrations
Seattle, not Boston, is the best city in America for celebrating the Fourth of July. This is odd, considering Boston more or less invented America. And this is the thanks we get?
Seattle placed atop a new ranking by personal finance social network WalletHub, followed by Minneapolis, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., Portland, Oregon, St. Louis, San Diego, Milwaukee, San Francisco, and Orlando. Boston missed the top 10, sliding to 15th.
Though Boston was the fourth most walkable city with the 10th most festivals and performances scheduled for the Fourth, the Hub still fell behind Madison, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, and yes, New York City.
To compile the list, WalletHub compared the 100 most populous cities in America using 16 metrics across three dimensions: entertainment and food (legality of fireworks, average cost of hamburgers, duration of fireworks show), attractions and activities (walkability, park quality), and this year’s Fourth of July weather forecast.
Is this about that whole fake fireworks thing five years ago? My God, that was one time.
