Dispatch Prepares for European Tour with Free Show in Boston

Dispatch has a special treat in store for Boston music fans on Monday night.
Before embarking on a European tour, the local indie rock band is coming back to town for an impromptu, “open practice session” at Brighton Music Hall. The all ages concert is free to the public and will be held from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m, with doors opening at 7 p.m.
Since the venue is on the smaller side, the band reminded fans in a post on Facebook to get to the show early.

While Brighton Music Hall is expected to be packed with fans on Monday night, there won’t be nearly as many people at the show as Dispatch’s enormous farewell performance at the Hatch Shell in 2004.
The concert, which became the subject of the 2005 documentary the Last Dispatch, reportedly drew in over 110,000 fans from around the world for what was billed as the band’s last show. After a long layoff, Dispatch reformed for a reunion tour in 2011 and has been playing gigs here and there ever since.
Following the practice session in Boston, the band will head to Switzerland on June 30 to kick off its European tour, which will conclude in Austria on July 9.
