Welcome to Weirdest Thing of the Week, where…well, we point out weird things.

It’s been a rocky week for Cape Granite Connection, a granite supply store in Yarmouth.

On Monday, $20,000 worth of granite slabs were reported stolen from the store. In a Facebook post, the Yarmouth Police Department detailed the theft. It notes that about 24 slabs are missing, each measuring 9-by-6 feet. They’re estimated to weigh several hundred pounds each.

So, how does one steal such heavy slabs? Superhuman strength, maybe. Cape Granite Connection owner Rodolfo Lemos speculates several strong thieves used a large truck to transport the granite.

He told the Boston Globe, “It would take at least about four hours and two or three guys to do something like that. …I never expected something like this to happen.”

Among the stolen slabs are Alaskan white, river gold, and blue flower granite. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Yarmouth Police Department at 508-775-0445.
