Boston Cancels School While the Sun Still Shines

The City of Boston cancelled school for Friday in advance of the looming snowstorm, prompting many among us to grumble old-people things about how in our day they didn't call school while the sun still shone, and how we walked to school uphill in our snowshoes both ways, etc.

But cancel school they have, saving children the trouble of praying to God, doing snow dances, and kissing their posters of Justin Bieber or whatever superstitious stuff the kids do these days. The city is also declaring a snow emergency tomorrow beginning at noon and putting a parking ban in effect. That this all happens on a perfectly sunny day should be a sign of how seriously meterologists and now city officials are taking the forecasts.
