The Chestnut Hill School

The Chestnut Hill School is an independent, coeducational elementary school. The school is comprised of a preschool program (starting at age 3), an all-day Kindergarten, and grades 1 through 6. A host of after-school, summer, and music programs enrich its extra-curricular offerings.

Driven by a mission of academic excellence, diversity, and community, CHS prides itself on providing a rigorous academic program within a warm and supportive environment. Its educational philosophy is a key product of that mission—one that is deeply rooted in a balanced approach to learning, a desire to educate and support the whole child, and a fundamental understanding of sound, developmental practice. Dedicated and talented teachers create a learning environment that not only facilitates the acquisition of knowledge and skills, but that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and a genuine love of learning.

CHS has earned a national reputation as an inclusive institution responsive to the needs of a highly diverse community. It has students, staff, and faculty from over 30 communities in the Greater Boston area. The school strives to acknowledge the numerous differences in its students’ families’ backgrounds while actively celebrating their common commitments to equity and social justice. Join CHS for an Open House on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m., or visit tchs.org for more information.
