PREVIOUSLY:

Assembly Square isn’t the only developing neighborhood getting a Trader Joe’s in 2017. The Hawaiian shirt-clad grocers just signed a lease for a new store in Lower Allston, the company announced.

Trader Joe’s will take up 13,000 square feet at Continuum, Allston’s first luxury towers. The latest from Samuels & Associates, the developer behind the Pierce and Van Ness buildings in Fenway, has more than 35,000 square feet of retail space available in the Barry’s Corner neighborhood. Nothing has moved into it yet, but in February, the Franklin Restaurant Group confirmed it is developing a new concept there, called Our Fathers’ Deli.

Harvard graduate students and others renting ~$2,400 studios at Continuum should be glad to hear TJ’s is an anchor tenant. The chain is known for its inexpensive, quality house brands, including an ever-growing range of creative, international frozen and convenience foods. And speculoos cookie butter.

The North Allston store is just about a mile away from Trader Joe’s on Memorial Drive. In Somerville, the store is slated for a late 2017 opening. The new locations will bring Massachusetts’s Trader Joe’s count up to 20.
