Rise of the Jack-o’-Lanterns Comes to Boston’s Seaport District This Halloween

They may be a pain to carve, but few things scream Halloween quite like the iconic jack-o’-lantern.

This Halloween season, more than 5,000 of them will take over the Boston Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center when Rise of the Jack-o’-Lanterns comes to town for the very first time. The multi-day, all-ages event will take place Thursday to Sunday, October 27 to 30.

After sold-out shows in New York and Los Angeles, Rise will make its debut in Boston with a myriad of hand-carved jack-o’-lantern that will light up a trail that people can walk on as music plays in the background.

“We are so excited to expand the geographic reach for Rise of the Jack-o’-Lanterns, bringing it to a new market like Boston for Halloween 2016,” executive producer Mike Pollock said in a statement. “We look forward to providing a new and exciting attraction for adults and children of all ages throughout New England to enjoy during Halloween weekend.”

According to a press release, the collection of pumpkin art will include creations based on popular American pop culture characters, as well as larger works, such as life-sized dinosaurs, dragons, and 100-pound carved pumpkins. Live carving stations will also be on hand so attendees can watch artists bring some amazing jack-o’-lantern to life.

“We have a large staff that works every week of the year to make sure have a successful event in October,” resident master carver Tom Olton said in a statement. “This year, we will have over 150 artists working on both coasts.”

Rise of the Jack-o’-Lanterns comes to the Boston Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center Thursday to Sunday, October 27 to 30. Tickets are required and won’t be sold at the door. For more information, check out therise.org.
