Andrew and Harvard Squares Had the Fastest Growing Rents This Fall
Yet another report has documented Boston’s steadily increasing rent. This time, apartment renal platform Zumper is here to break down the city’s rent prices this fall.
The new report indicates one-bedroom apartments grew 1.4 percent to a median price of $2,250 since the last financial quarter. Two bedrooms increased even more, rising 4 percent to a median of $2,600. Overall, two neighborhoods in particular grew dramatically—both Harvard Square and the areas around Columbus Park/Andrew Square rose more than 10 percent last quarter.
Harvard Square’s recent uptick is to be expected with the influx of students during the fall. The Columbus Park/Andrew Square increase, on the other hand, is a bit more interesting. Its median rent price clocked in at $2,100, and is likely tied to new and upcoming developments in the area.
The “D Street – West Broadway” area and downtown were the most expensive Boston neighborhoods on the list, while East Cambridge and MIT represented Cambridge. Oh, and Boston is still the country’s third most expensive rental market in the country. Happy renting!
