Roxy’s Grilled Cheese Debuts a Breakfast Menu in the Seaport
Truffle tots might just become the new breakfast of champions. Roxy’s Grilled Cheese has introduced a new morning menu at its shipping container outpost, complete with a trio of egg sandwiches and Roxy’s addictive, cheese- or truffle-soaked tater tots.
Choose from a chorizo patty, bacon, or a meat-free sandwich on a soft, sweet Portuguese bun. All three come with scrambled eggs, melty Muenster cheese, and Roxy’s classic Justin’s Sauce. The full tots menu that is available during lunch hours in Southie now starts in the morning, says operations manager Christina Rowley.
Roxy’s at the Innovation and Design Building is now open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday. Since opening last fall, it had just offered lunch from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
“There was definitely greater demand for breakfast service than there was for service after 3 in that area,” Rowley says. “We got requests constantly to do breakfast. As you might know, it’s a pretty limited food-option area. We wanted to be able to offer breakfast in a community we felt needed it.”
Roxy’s has no plans to offer breakfast from its food trucks nor at its Allston location, which is across Cambridge Street from Twin Donuts. It’s also not in the business plan for an upcoming Lynnfield restaurant (slated to open right after Christmas), nor for the menu at Roxy’s / A4cade in Cambridge when it opens, likely in early January, Rowley says.
In 2017, the Innovation and Design Building will also become home to Reebok and America’s Test Kitchen, which both plan to include dining amenities at their headquarters.
But we have a feeling there will always be a place for truffle tots in the morning.
