Elizabeth Warren Announces Reelection Bid for 2018
Sen. Elizabeth Warren announced in an email to supporters Friday that she intends to run for reelection in 2018.
“The people of Massachusetts didn’t send me to Washington to roll over and play dead while Donald Trump and his team of billionaires, bigots, and Wall Street bankers crush the working people of our Commonwealth and this country,” Warren wrote. “This is no time to quit.”
Warren included in her announcement a request for small-dollar donations, as well as a series of progressive causes she pledged to work on, from debt-free college tuition to Wall Street reform.
“The smears and right-wing attacks from Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, the Koch Brothers and Wall Street aren’t about to get a little worse—they’re about to get A LOT worse,” she continued. “We cannot and will not allow the Republicans and the powerful interests to sink our campaign the same way they sank so many campaigns in 2016.”
Former Red Sox pitcher and Breitbart internet radio personality Curt Schilling has expressed his desire to challenge Warren in 2018, though the outspoken conservative has yet to formally announce his candidacy.
