BU Hockey Fans Give BC’s Fight Song a Beanpot Makeover

For Newton, for Newton, the outhouse on the hill.

Boston University defeated Boston College in the first round of the Beanpot tournament at TD Garden, marking the Terriers’ first regular season sweep of the Eagles since the 1994-95 season. And for the first time since 1998, the Hub’s signature college hockey tourney will feature BU and Harvard in its title game.

That’s cause for celebration. And perhaps, song?

This choir of BU hockey fans gave their Comm. Ave. counterparts’ 132-year-old fight song, “For Boston,” an update ahead of Monday night’s game, to more accurately reflect the school’s actual location.

“For Newton, for Newton, the outhouse on the hill,” the choir sings while a stone-faced conductor in a “GO BU!” trucker hat dutifully waves his baton. “For Newton, for Newton, BC sucks and always will.”

(Of course, Newton is among the wealthiest towns in the Commonwealth, and BC is second only to Tufts, in terms of the number of its students in the 1 percent. Still—artistic license.)

Puck drop between BU and Harvard is scheduled for February 13 at 7:30 p.m. You can catch the game live on NESN.
