You Can Zipline Across the Greenway This Weekend
This weekend, zip up your coat and zipline over the city.
Experience Kissimmee, a pop-up installation meant to drive tourism to Kissimmee, Florida, is trying to bring a little bit of sunshine to Boston this winter, complete with a giant zipline, airboats, and alligators.
The zipline—called the “Freezin’ Gator Zipline”—is inspired by an attraction in Kissimmee’s Gatorland theme park, and will run for 200 feet across the Rose Kennedy Greenway and Dewey Square.
In addition to the zipline, there will be a coloring tent from Crayola Experience Orlando, live alligators from Gatorland, and a chance to take a selfie on an airboat, all for free. The “winter activation” has appeared in other cities before—last year it was in Chicago—but this is the first time the event has come to Boston.
The zipline will begin its installation on Thursday, February 16, and will be open to the public on the following Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. While there is no admission fee, attendees are encouraged to bring a new or lightly used coat to donate to those in need.
