Boston’s Juice Bar Scene Is About to Get Even Better
UPDATED, May 15, 2017:
Pressed Juicery’s Harvard Square and Newbury Street stores are now open. Harvard is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, while Newbury is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
Original story:
Two exciting additions to Boston’s already-extensive juice scene—one a long-awaited arrival, and one an expanding local favorite—are on the way.
The newcomer is Pressed Juicery, a popular California-based company that, until now, has not had a presence in New England. (Don’t confuse it with Pressed, a local brand with juice bars in Beacon Hill and the South End.) The company is making up for lost time, opening two Boston locations this spring.
Pressed will operate at 1380 Massachusetts Avenue, in Harvard Square, and 288 Newbury Street. Both shops will sell cold-pressed juices and Freeze, Pressed’s line of “soft-serve” made from fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Freeze is basically a frozen version of juice, available in chocolate, vanilla, greens, and strawberry almond flavors.
As for the old favorite, Jugos is rumored to be adding a store in the South End, at 502 Massachusetts Avenue. Jugos’ other permanent location, a hole-in-the-wall shop in Back Bay Station, attracts lengthy lines daily for its juices, smoothies, acai bowls, chia puddings, toasts, and more.
The new location, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, would be quite a bit larger than the Back Bay spot, seating 11 inside and another eight on a seasonal patio.
