“Adult Swim on the Green” Is Coming to Waltham
Adult Swim swung through Boston once already this summer, when a giant van shaped like Rick from Rick and Morty parked itself on the Greenway and dished out exclusive merch from the show. And in September, fans will get another chance to celebrate their favorite offbeat cartoons among likeminded TV viewers, when “Adult Swim on the Green” comes to Waltham.
The miniature festivals—which feature food trucks, themed games and vendors, a “prize eye,” and a giant screen showing never-bef0re-seen episodes of Adult Swim shows—have been popping up along the West Coast this summer, including a stop at San Diego Comic Con, and six more dates have just been announced on this side of the country: here, Philly, New York, Atlanta, D.C., and Charleston. The Boston stop is on the spacious lawn at Waltham’s Gore Place.
“Prepare to experience Mother Nature in all her glory along with games, new friends, food trucks, and trivia for exclusive prizes,” reads a description of the event on Facebook. “It’s going to be a fantastic night full of Adult Swim and lots of surprises.”
For the screening, the network promises “a look at what’s on the horizon for the network with unaired [as] episodes, never before seen pilots & specials, and a load of other Williams Street favorites.”
Admission is free, but you buy a $5 voucher that can be spent inside on popcorn and other concessions. Plus, you can bring your own food and picnic. Doors open on Friday, September 29, at 5:45 p.m. and the screening is at 7 p.m. It’s 18-plus.
