HubThreads: Celebrating Boston Street Style
Meet Liz. We caught up with her at the Shuck Parkinson's benefit held at the Samson Projects' gallery. To date, the benefit has raised close to $75,000 to help fight Parkinson's disease.
Critics say this city has no style. We’re here to prove them wrong. Welcome to HubThreads, where we chat with the most stylish people we find out and about in Boston. Think you or someone you know has the best street style? Let us know.
LIZ
You work at Samson Projects, what do you do for them? I’m the assistant director.
What’s your background, are you an artist? Yes, I studied painting and art history. And then I ended up here.
Did you go to school in Boston? I went to BU.
Are you from here? No, I’m from Long Beach, California.
How do you like living in Boston? I like it! I was ready for a change. We’re deeply rooted Californians, my ancestor was like the first plumber in Long Beach, so I was ready to get out of there.
Does your family wonder what you’re doing, living in Boston? No they love visiting! My mom always felt like a displaced East Coaster, so she loves coming back here, she feels more at home.
How would you describe your style? Oh my God, I don’t know. Semi-mod, monochromatic.
Good one. Do you have any style icons? Maybe Lucille Ball. My tash can, I don’t know.
Where do you like to shop in Boston? Bobby from Boston. I love good, vintage and classic items. I shop at a lot of second-hand stores.
Any favorites? I’m on a budget so I like just finding odd items at places.
Ok, so where did you get what you’re wearing? Primark.
Really? People love that store, but when I go, I have no luck. Yeah, it’s like garbage. It’s serendipity, you just have to go and search. I never go with the intent of finding something, I sort of just wander in.
