CVS Is Now Offering Same-Day Drug Delivery in Boston
The service is being rolled out in six cities.

CVS is now offering same-day delivery for prescription drugs in Boston, one of six cities where the Rhode Island-based pharmacy chain is rolling out the service.
As part of an effort to head off a challenge from Amazon, which has launched breakneck-speed delivery in Boston and elsewhere and is rumored to be eyeing the drug business, CVS announced it will now let customers place orders for medicine by calling one of their pharmacies or using an app, and receive it at home a few hours later. For a cost of $8.99, CVS promises same-day delivery of drugs ordered before 4 p.m. on weekdays, or 11 a.m. on weekends.
The service debuted in Manhattan in December and CVS announced plans to bring it to Boston at the asme time. Today the company announced it is available in Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
Also, CVS is rolling out next-day prescription delivery nationwide. It’s available for a $4.99 service charge.
“The national launch of our prescription delivery service, including the expansion of same-day delivery in five new markets, is delivering on our promise to make staying healthy simpler for every patient, regardless of where they live,” said Kevin Hourican, President, CVS Pharmacy. “Through a fully customized digital experience, shoppers are now able to enjoy the convenience of CVS Pharmacy right at their doorstep.”
CVS, which was founded in Lowell in 1963, is headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and has more than 9,800 locations.
