The Summer Party is the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston’s (MFA) annual black-tie fundraising gala hosted by the Museum Council, the MFA’s membership group for young people who support the arts kicked off on June 9, 2018. The Summer Party guests danced to DJ Rich DiMare’s music and enjoyed an open bar with desserts and late night bites. Guests also participated in a silent juried art auction featuring 20 works by emerging and established artists including Maud Morgan, Tomashi Jackson, and Steve Locke, in addition to a special prize by Tanja Hollander, whose works are currently on view in the (un)expected families exhibition. The Summer Party also featured performance art pieces curated by Danielle Abrams, professor of performance art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts (SMFA at Tufts), and drag queen entertainment by Donald Gregorio Productions. Throughout the evening, guests explored ancient artworks—from jewelry to sculpture—on view in the MFA’s Art of the America’s Wing. Proceeds from the annual gala provide crucial support for the Museum’s exhibitions, community programs, and conservation initiatives.
