Share a Drink for the Children
For so many reasons, we are glad this week is nearly over. It’s been a tough one. If information about the crisis going on at the border is stressing you out, here are a few ways to do something about it just by getting a drink and being kind to service industry professionals. Longfellows Coffee plans to donate 100 percent of sales of cold brew this Friday, June 29, to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES). Bukowski Tavern in Boston, for the second weekend in a row, is donating tips from the Saturday day shift to RAICES as well as Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). “As a bar run and supported by women, queer people, Latinos, immigrants, the working class, students, PoC, parents, allies and self-identified feminist men, we have a commitment to those communities,” says Bukowski bar manager Yoanna Torres. Bartender Gabe Bellegard Bastos also donated to RAICES the tips he received during his final shift at Bar Mezzana last week, which the restaurant matched. And on this Sunday, July 1, SoWa and Craft Collective will be donating $1 for every drink sold at the SoWa Beer Barn to the Family Reunification and Bond Fund at RAICES.

American Burger Revival Revival
Since coauthoring the cookbook American Burger Revival: Brazen Recipes to Electrify a Timeless Classic, chef Richard Chudy has been focusing less on beef and more on the private catering company, the Skinny Beet, that he runs with his wife, Katie. But he’s coming out of burger retirement this Friday evening, June 29, for a pop-up with Bonetown Burgers at Night Shift Brewing Co. The Bonetown truck will have its regular menu, plus some specials inspired American Burger Revival; and Chudy promises at least one of his over-the-top creations: the After School Special, topped with Frito Pie crumble, Cool Ranch “ranch,” and Kool-Aid pickles. The food truck will be giving away swag, and Chudy is bringing along copies of his book to give away to a lucky few, as well.

A World of Flavors in Somerville
Bow Market is open, and more food vendors are moving in every day. Jaju Pierogi surprised fans by opening up last night with cult-favorite buffalo chicken pierogi, among other flavors of handmade Polish dumplings. Jaju is open Thursday-Saturday from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. for its opening weekend. Buenas has been open at Bow for a week now. Pop in this Friday from 4-10 p.m., Saturday starting at 11 a.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. for empanadas filled with the likes of spinach, cheese, and béchamel and more funky fresh Latin American food, like cheesy chimi bread. Tanám, Bow’s Filipino restaurant, is not open yet, but chef Ellie Tiglao is bringing some snacks to nearby Bantam Cider Company this weekend. Post up on Sunday at our favorite place to drink in Union Square for a flight of cider and $5 snacks like pork belly in asado sauce with cilantro salad and fried shallots; chicken adobo with garlic aioli and cured duck egg yolk; and ube ice cream-filled mochi.

Love dogs, and balling out? Grab the John Legend to your Chrissy Teigen and go check out the newest cocktail at the lounge at the W Hotel. The Double Paw cocktail for two is made with Stoli Elit Pristine, an exclusive, high-end vodka, and dehydrated blood orange. It has a whopping $1,500 price tag, but that includes two drinks as well as two tickets to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ lavish Tails of a White Night summer gala coming up in Sandwich on Friday, July 27. Each purchase donates more than $400 to the MSPCA in Boston and Cape Cod, and we’re going to bet it’s a mighty fine drink, too. The Double Paw is available through Thursday, July 26.

At So Many Summertime Festivals
Happy almost-Independence Day, and happy summer. Boston is bustling this time of year, with fêtes this weekend for everything from seafood to four-legged friends. WoofStock, a puppy party sponsored by Tito’s Vodka in support of Last Hope K9 Rescue, returns to the Harvard Athletic Complex this Saturday, June 30, with dog-friendly photo booths, live music, dog-inspired cocktails, and food trucks. The Boston Public Market’s OysterFest with Red’s Best also returns Saturday, taking over the plaza from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with wine, beer, Willie’s Superbrew, and fresh bivalves for purchase, plus more BPM vendor offerings such as fresh strawberry shortcake from Stillman’s Farm. Finally: The classic Boston event that is HarborFest has kicked off. The 37th annual celebration of Boston Harbor history continues through July 7 with hundreds of family-friendly activities, including a ChowderFest at Christopher Columbus Park on Sunday, July 1.
