For almost 200 years old, this grand Greek Revival home in Danvers looks pretty good. With a bit of preservation work, it’ll look even better.

According to the Danvers Historical Society, the house was built in 1826 for a shoe manufacturer named George Adams Putnam. Bedecked in period moldings and built-ins, his four-bedroom manse is now waiting to be restored to its original glory. To start, the 10-room residence could do without the blue and yellow carpets—especially the one covering the curving staircase in the main living room. Some woodwork and wallpaper restoration is also in order, not to mention an overhaul of the not-so-modern kitchen.

Look beyond the hefty investment the house requires, however, and you’ll see it conceals a few antique gems. Several wood-burning fireplaces, bay windows, French doors, china cabinets, and a built-in entryway bench are among its centuries-old features. The fixer-upper is also quite the deal at $91 per square foot. The cherry on top? The place is only a 15-minute drive from the ocean.
