When high school sweethearts Alice Anastasia and Alexander Richichi first began planning their wedding, they thought there was no way they’d get away with having a small celebration. “We [both] have really big families,” Alice says. “We realized very soon that it would have to be, like, a 300-person wedding.” Still, the idea of hosting an intimate gathering for just their closest friends and relatives appealed to the couple, who ultimately traded their plans for a grand soiree in New Hampshire—Alice’s home state—for a private fete at Coppa in Boston, where they currently live. “It was such a fun and unique way to celebrate,” Alexander says. “It was really what we wanted to do.”
CEREMONY
In the company of just 25 guests, the bride and groom exchanged original vows during the ceremony—officiated by Alexander’s sister, Mandy—at boutique hotel 14 Union Park. “Narrowing it down to just immediate family was the best decision,” Alexander says of the ceremony guest list. “It made it more personal.”
FIRST LOOK
In lieu of a first look, the couple swapped handwritten letters before their ceremony.
DRESS
Alice found her Alexandra Grecco “Iris” gown during a trunk show at Ceremony, where the designer herself was on hand to fit her. “I was the first person she ever made it for,” Alice says. “It was just flowy and easy and romantic. It reflected how [our] love is, but in a dress.”
FLOWERS
The bride’s aunt, Vivian—owner of Anastasia’s Flowers on Main, in Byfield—created the floral arrangements, which included thistle, eucalyptus, Queen Anne’s lace, and white astrantia.
ACCESSORIES
Alice paired her floral-appliqué gown with a Blank NYC embroidered leather jacket—a nod to Alexander’s career as the lead singer for the Offering, a Boston-based heavy metal band.
DANCING
For their first dance, the couple hired a friend of a friend to play “La Vie En Rose” on the trumpet. “It was absolute perfection,” Alice says.
DINNER
The couple invited additional friends and family to celebrate with them at a cocktail-style reception at Coppa, where some 60 guests noshed on duck prosciutto, arancini, and meatballs, among other Italian small plates.
DESSERT
For dessert, Alice and Alexander treated guests to Coppa’s zeppole with Nutella.
