Where to Go Snow Tubing in New England

Still haven’t cruised down a mountain like a true New Englander? Before the snow washes away entirely and brings in those pre-spring months of constant rain, fear of blizzards, and creepy climate change-induced warmth, grab your tube and glide down the hills of New England like a real pro. Here’s a roundup of some of the best spots to go snow tubing:
Nashoba Valley’s Snow Tubing Park
Sure, you could always be fancy and go skiing, but sometimes it’s nice to just sit there and cruise down the mountain without much effort. But don’t be mistaken—this is no puny backyard hill. Nashoba has eighteen lanes, four lifts, and an awesome lodge where you can lounge while eating snacks and sipping beverages, aprés-tubing. If you want to go really fast, avoid visiting on days with warmer weather.

Ski Ward
Just outside Worcester in Shrewsbury, Ski Ward welcomes guests to try their hand at TubaSliding, their version of snow tubing down the mountain. They’re normally open on weekends and weekday afternoons, but hours get extended during school vacation. If you don’t make it there this winter, fear not: During the summer, Ski Ward has an awesome outdoor summer tubing program, too. Bonus points for a commute that’s less than an hour car ride from Boston!

Cranmore Mountain Resort Tubing & Mountain Adventure Park
Tucked in the adorable ski town of North Conway, Cranmore has 10 lanes of snow tubing, as well as a mountain coaster that cruises through the woods, a giant swing, and the Soaring Eagle Zip Line. Just an FYI: The tubing park is closed Monday through Thursday, except during the school vacation weeks. Be sure to check their website to make sure they’re open before you head over.

Ski Butternut
With eight lanes and 200 tubes, Butternut’s snow tubing park is fun for all ages. It’s located in the picturesque Berkshires town of Great Barrington, which is the picture-perfect embodiment of New England winter. Don’t miss their $10 deal, which allows three hours of gliding down the mountain on Friday nights. The course is open Friday through Sunday.

Camden Snow Bowl
Okay, it’s not quite tubing, but the Camden Snow Bowl will still have you zooming across the frozen Hosmer Pond at warp speed. The peaceful town of Camden is home to the country’s only remaining original, gravity-operated 400-foot-long wooden toboggan chute. Catapult out of the chute on an amazing ride that’s like a roller coaster, minus the rails. But be sure to call ahead to make sure they’re open. Skiiers will find their fun at the Snow Bowl too—there’s over 20 runs, and lots of fun spots nearby for drinks and dinner.
