Our annual list of the 566 top dental pros in Boston and beyond—as chosen by their peers.

Who among us hasn’t griped about having to go to the dentist? It’s uncomfortable, you’re always paranoid you’re about to get diagnosed with some new problem that will require additional treatment, and if you’re an adult, you probably don’t even get a sticker for attending anymore. While we here at Boston can’t make the overall concept of visiting a dentist more pleasant (we’ll just echo the hygienists of the world and encourage more flossing), we are hoping to take some of the pain out of the process by recommending some good dentists.
How did we pick them? We sent letters to the address on record for licensed dentists in Boston and the surrounding region roughly within I-495’s boundaries, inviting them to nominate up to three of their peers in a select number of dental specialties via an online survey. We tallied more than 5,000 votes; the top vote-getters in each specialty were then reviewed by an advisory board of select dentists, chosen for their credentials and the high number of votes they received.
