Accidental Tourists

When Taylor Fleming realized that the date she and her fiancé, Brent, had set for their June 2012 nuptials was the same day as the Boston Pride Parade, she had one goal: Get a wedding portrait with a drag queen. The procession was set to step off near the Fairmont Copley Plaza—the couple’s reception venue—but when the newlyweds arrived there after the ceremony, they found the area devoid of sequins and wigs. The fanfare had already passed. Luckily, photographer Corinna Raznikov had another idea for a fun shot. Noticing a group of tourists taking their own snapshots of Taylor and Brent, she invited them to step into the frame. Posing for that picture is now one of the bride’s favorite memories of the day. “I wanted a picture with drag queens,” she says, “but I ended up with a tour group, which makes for a better story because it was so random and spur-of-the-moment.”
