Lykke Li Acoustic Session at the MFA

As longtime fans of Lykke Li, we naturally had eyes on tickets to her House of Blues show last week. But when the MFA tweeted about an acoustic show from the Swedish songwriter, we were intrigued and determined to check it out. The museum recently partnered with radio station WNFX (101.7 FM) to organize a series of exclusive acoustic shows held within several of its massive galleries. The concerts are only booked a few weeks ahead of time, and tickets can’t be purchased — they can only be won through on-air radio contests or through the MFA’s Facebook page once the show has been announced, meaning the audience is limited to between 35 and 50 people. We say it’s about time someone realized the MFA’s gorgeous galleries are performance spaces of (literally) epic proportions. Li performed her set last Friday in the Dutch and Flemish gallery — she played four songs and then snapped some photos with fans before headlining at the House of Blues later in the evening. Catch replays of the audio recording on DJ Paul Driscoll’s WFNX Sunday show; video clips of the performance can be found here and here. Click through to see some snapshots of the performance.
