Tufts Joins the Physician Assistant Program Bandwagon
Tufts Joins the Physician Assistant Program Bandwagon. Tufts University School of Medicine has just launched the fourth physician assistant teaching program in the state, and the first that’s tied to one of our local medical schools. The physician assistant (think: not quite a doctor, but more than a nurse) is a field that’s been growing at a frenetic pace lately, spurred by a dearth of doctors available to treat the minor ailments of general life — things which a trained P.A. can handle well before the doctor’s schedule opens up. Having a medical school on board with the new industry only gives it more recognition, expertise, and manpower — which we can all appreciate when it starts to take a little less time to get our stomach-ache/sore throat/runny nose checked out.
