Veteran Journalist David S. Bernstein Joins Boston magazine
BOSTON (May 3, 2013)—Boston magazine is delighted to announce the addition of David S. Bernstein as a contributing editor. Bernstein, who spent the past 10 years at the Boston Phoenix, is widely regarded as one of the state’s foremost political writers. Over the course of his 23-year career, he has become a frequent analyst on local and national television and radio broadcasts, and has been named journalist of the year by the New England Press Association. Additionally, he has been cited for excellence in criminal justice reporting by John Jay College.
“The closing of the Phoenix was an unfortunate development for the city in many ways,” said Boston magazine editor John Wolfson. “The paper was home to a number of important writers, and chief among them was David Bernstein. We’re proud to be his new home.”
In his role as a contributing editor, which begins May 11, Bernstein will focus primarily on politics and policy, though he’ll occasionally mix in other topics as well. His writing will appear regularly in the magazine, and daily on bostonmagazine.com.
“I am very excited to be joining the Boston magazine team,” said Bernstein, who will continue to appear as an analyst on radio and television broadcasts. “The magazine has been devoted for many years to long-form journalism, and has recently become a growing part of the city’s daily online conversation. I am thrilled to be able to add to both arenas.”
