New Kids on the Block Back on Tour This Summer

As much as America loved fan-girling over the dynamic duo between New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys, also known as the ever-infamous NKOTBSB, it looks like Boston’s faithful boy band has found a new package to join forces with. Fellow ’90s boy bands 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men will accompany New Kids on the Block for “The Package Tour” coming to major cities around the U.S. this summer (including several dates in Canada).
Of course NKOTB will make an appearance in Boston, but I won’t hide my disappointment at their one scheduled date at the TD Garden on June 2. How can this even compare to their epic show at Fenway Park with the Backstreet Boys back in 2011, with appearances by Mayor Menino and Donnie Wahlberg’s brother/Boston’s McDreamy, Mark Wahlberg? Are we supposed to just accept this venue downgrade? More importantly, is 98 Degrees’ Nick Lachey dreamy enough to fill the void of BSB’s blond marvel Nick Carter? Boston mothers will be outraged, and rightfully so.
New Kids on the Block will bring “The Package Tour” to Boston’s TD Garden with 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men on June 2, 2013. Visit NKOTB’s official website for ticket details and additional tour dates.
Below, the new “Dirty Dozen” announce the tour on The View (props to Sherri Shepherd for wearing an “I Love Donnie” T-shirt in part 2 of the interview).
