There’s no denying that it’s a good day to be Irish in Boston on St. Patrick’s Day. Every year on March 17, Boston shows the rest of the country how St. Paddy’s Day is really celebrated. Yet not even all the corned beef hash, “Kiss Me, I’m Irish” pins, and Guinness in the world can complete the day without a front row seat to one of our most celebrated events. Check out these photos from Sunday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Southie:

A pirate from the New England Brethren of Pirates is all smiles.

The ladies of 97.7 WAAF donned some impressive wigs.

Members of the South End Show Stopperz team got the crowd riled up.

Veterans marched proudly down Broadway.

A group of motorcyclists revved their engines and rolled down the parade route.

A member of the Poway City Fire Department tosses some green beads into the crowd.

Elvis Presley: back from the dead, dressed to the nines, and apparently an Irishman.

Members of the Veterans in Piping association take the parade in stride.

A parade in Boston isn’t complete without a handful of marchers in Civil War garb.

Military members reached out into the crowd for handshakes.

Police officers dutifully performing another kind of service.

Muskets in hand, another group of Civil War reenactors prepare to do a salute.

After about two hours, the parade began to wind down and enthusiastic Boston locals and visitors moved on to their next locations for more celebrations.
