Ready to deck the halls with some fa-la-las? Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops release a new holiday album today, titled A Boston Pops Christmas: Live from Symphony Hall. Fourteen of your favorite Christmas classics are packed into one festive hour, all of which were performed live during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

A Boston Pops Christmas features the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, who bring David Chase’s breathtaking arrangement of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and other tracks to life; former American Idol contestant Melinda Doolittle, who sings “Three Christmas Spirituals” and “Children, Go Where I Send Thee”; and a reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, narrated by Will LeBow (with a performance of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” by Reid Bruton).

You might think October feels a little early for a holiday album from the Pops, but for some BSO fans, the collection is long overdue. While nothing can replace the experience of attending a concert at Symphony Hall, A Boston Pops Christmas is about as close to the real thing as you’ll get—and it makes for a great stocking-stuffer.

A Boston Pops Christmas: Live from Symphony Hall goes on sale today in digital and hard copies at bostonpops.org.
