Rain, shine, or snow—Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and Stone Zoo in Stoneham are open all year round. We asked folks from both zoos to share their favorite furry—and some not-so-furry—friends. Here are their recommendations.

Two-Toed Sloths (Franklin Park Zoo)

Inocencio, Pygmy Hippo (Franklin Park Zoo)

Age 2 | Fun Fact: Inocencio came to FPZ’s Tropical Forest in 2013 from the Parque Zoologico Buin Zoo in Chile where he was born. Ino is still growing. Maki, Ring-Tail Lemur (Franklin Park Zoo)

Age 6 | Fun Fact: Maki's mother Lulu wasn't able to nurse him, so Maki was bottle-fed by zookeepers. He’s full-grown now with a family of his own—mate Nebbie and two daughters. Maki likes people a little more than your average lemur and can often be found interacting with zoo guests, especially children, through the glass in his exhibit. —Rec’d by Jeannine Jackle, Asst.
