EW’s Mean Girls Reunion Is a Great Excuse to Revisit Amy Poehler’s Cool Mom Scene

Not enough Poehler! That’s how I feel about EW’s reunion feature this week, which brings together great casts of movies past including Ghostbusters, Napoleon Dynamite, and Mean Girls.

For the long-awaited reunion of the Mean Girls cast, more than 10 years after the comedy first hit screens, the magazine wrangled all four “Plastics”—Lindsay Lohan (Cady), Rachel McAdams (Regina), Lacey Chabert (Gretchen), and Amanda Seyfried (Karen)—and writer Tina Fey.

But what about everyone else? What about Janis and Damian and spring fling king Shane Oman? Well, Lizzy Caplan (Janis) now stars in Showtime’s Masters of Sex, Daniel Franzese (Damian) just did a parody cover of Sam Smith, and Diego Klattenhoff (Shane Oman of projection room fame) stars on NBC’s The Blacklist.

But if there’s any actor beyond Fey and the Plastics to keep up with, it’s Amy Poehler, who played Regina George’s ridiculous mother.

Seyfried knows what I’m talking about. She tells EW:

One of my favorite scenes was when the little Chihuahua is biting the nipples off Amy Poehler. It was so fun.

Chabert added:

They, like, pinned a piece of a cocktail wiener into her bra. I thought this dog was going to tear her apart. It was very effective. She was such a pro through it. She’s trying to do her lines and being so professional, and this dog is chomping on her fake boob. I’ll never forget that.

Of course, Poehler wasn’t a total pro while filming Mean Girls. In her newly released book Yes Please, she admitted that after landing in Toronto to shoot the movie, she let out her inner Masshole when a fellow passenger said she didn’t belong in first class, yelling and cursing at him as he ran away from her through the airport.
